You’re in the right place.
I’m Rachel––and poetry is pretty much my whole personality.
I write, read, and talk about poems, and I love supporting other writers.
My story is simple:
eight years ago, I started writing poetry …
and never stopped.
Words crept onto serviettes at the dining table. Climbed onto the backs of abandoned receipts when I worked at the checkout counter. I now have a shelf full of well-loved journals and three poetry books.

Maybe the poetry you read in school did little in inspiring you to write your own.
I don’t blame you.
I’ve found poetry to have so much power in my own life. It’s helped me to:
understand myself better,
grow closer to God,
experience healing, and
connect deeply with others.
Yet the resources out there are often outdated and stuffy.
That’s what I hope to change.
I love encouraging people to explore their passion for poetry. My dream is to see a new generation of poets filled with the courage and equipped with the tools they need to share their story through words.

Rachel Huckel is my married name! My husband and I got married on a beautiful autumn day in 2021. Fun fact: Matthew designed the covers for my poetry books!

At university, I majored in Global Sustainable Development. I now have the privilege of working as a Narrative Specialist for an international development charity.

I live in Sydney, Australia! I love where I live because of its beautiful natural scenery and beaches. Though I do dream of travelling to experience other cultures and climates.

I believe that:
Poetry still has a purpose in our world.
Every person was created beautifully unique.
Each poet has stories inside them that only they can tell.
Add all these up and you can start to see why I am so passionate about helping others to pursue poetry.
